Backup and restore
How do I get my data back on a new phone?
Sign in on the new phone with the same number or email. Fenzly recognises your account and asks whether you still have the old phone.
- You still have it: open Fenzly on it. It detects the migration and offers to back up and transfer your data. Confirm: a fresh backup goes out, the new phone receives it and restores your places, circles and conversations, with nothing lost.
- You no longer have access to it (lost, broken, wiped): Fenzly restores the latest existing backup and shows its date. Messages received after that backup cannot be recovered, a consequence of end-to-end encryption.
Fenzly is active on one device at a time: once the restore is confirmed, the old phone is signed out and says so. In automatic mode, use the same Google Drive or iCloud account on both phones, that is where the backup lives. The guide Switching phones details the steps.
