Organising my places

Create a place, choose between favorite and visited, share it with a circle, and understand what happens when you leave the circle.

Creating a place

From the Places tab, tap ”+” and search for an address or a venue name, or point at the spot on the map. Give it a name, a category if you like, and choose where to save it:

Favorites for a spot to watch: detecting arrivals and departures needs a radius of at least 100 metres, Fenzly adjusts it if needed.
Visited to simply keep an address or name a stop from your history, with no watching and no alert.

A stop detected in a trip is named the same way from the history; it joins the visited places.

Moving between the two

Open the place: Move to favorites pins it and starts watching; Move to visited places does the reverse. A place shared with a circle cannot be moved to visited while it is in the circle.

Only a favorite can be shared. Two paths:

from the place, the Sharing section lists your circles;
from the circle, Places tab → “Add a shared place” picks from your favorites.

Once shared, every member of the circle receives the place’s definition and detects their own passages there, without creating anything on their side. What members then learn about you depends on your sharing mode in that circle: Everything (your whole timeline), Circle places (only your arrivals and departures at the circle’s designated places), Latest position (your last known position, no history) or Off.

Who can edit a shared place

The name, position, radius and photo belong to the circle: only its guardians or admins edit them, and the change is sent to everyone. Changing the radius changes detection for every member. The star and the category, though, stay your personal choice and affect nobody else.

Removing or leaving

Remove a place from the circle (guardian or admin): it disappears for every member, except those who had starred it, who keep it as a personal place.
Leave the circle: same rule, your starred places stay, the circle’s other places are removed from your device.
